Working at ETITO

What do we do?

ETITO is an industry training organisation [ITO] representing eight different New Zealand industries - Ambulance, Contact Centre, Electrotechnology, Financial Services, Offender Management, Real Estate, Security and Telecommunications. Despite the name, ETITO doesn't actually physically train anyone. We develop and service these industries' training systems and work with companies and training providers to ensure the training process is organised into one tidy package.

We consult with each of our industries to find out what they want from their training system and develop new unit standards and qualifications for registration on the National Qualifications Framework [NQF].

We manage the overall training arrangements for trainees and employers, registering their completed on-job units with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority [NZQA] and allocating them to off-job training providers where appropriate. Throughout the training our field staff meet with employers and trainees to ensure they're progressing smoothly and to advise best practice.

ETITO provides skills-leadership to our industries by researching current and future skill needs, and making this research base available to our industries. We also help subsidise training costs by allocating government funding to training workplaces.

ETITO is a non-profit organisation that operates under a government mandate and receives almost all of its funding from government.

ETITO is one of the most dynamic organisations in the education sector, working across a wide range of industries with clients ranging from electricians to large corporate contact centres and all sorts in between. This means the organisation is made up of an eclectic mix of personalities, everyone from academic qualification writers to electricians, IT gurus and ex-contact centre employees.

One thing that all of us have in common is that we believe in what we do - making a difference to people's lives by helping them gain national qualifications while they work. Combine this with our easygoing, diverse workforce and our pleasant open-plan offices and it makes for a very fulfilling work environment.

We've more than doubled the size of our team in recent years as we've grown to service more industries.
