What we do
The initial role of ITOs was set out in the Industry Training Act 1992 and was expanded in the Industry Training Amendment Act 2002. The broad statutory obligations that we deliver to are as follows:
- Develop national standards and qualifications
- Develop arrangements for the delivery of Industry Training including purchasing of training delivery, monitoring of training, and the assessment of training
- Provide leadership to industry through identifying current and future skill needs
You’ll find more information about each of these and the work that we’re doing by clicking on the links to your right.
As well as the work we do to deliver on our statutory obligations, ETITO is continuously exploring new ways to deliver to the needs of our industries and provide leadership.
The Bright Sparks programme is part of ETITO's school-to-work transition programme and seeks to increase the pool of young people available for employment in New Zealand's hi-tech industries. To learn more about Bright Sparks, click on the link to your right.
The ICT in Canterbury Growth Pilot is an ETITO-managed project that aims to better match industry skill demand with the provision of tertiary education, so that ICT companies in the Canterbury region will have a sufficient number of skilled workers in the future. And ETITO Consulting Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary company of ETITO, was created to generate additional revenue for ETITO to apply for the benefit of its industries. More information can be found by clicking the link.
