New Year - new focus
3 November 2011
In September 2011, ETITO became the industry training organisation for the real estate industry, having assumed this role from REAL ITO. ETITO’s vision is to develop skills to improve workplace performance in the real estate industry.
The Real Estate Licensing Authority [REAA] has announced that it will be implementing mandatory continuing education for all real estate licensees from 1 January 2012. The REAA, with the support of ETITO and the industry, is seeking to use continuing education as one tool to provide better outcomes for consumers and to promote the professionalism of the industry.
It is in this context that continuing education will become a prerequisite for licence renewal from 1 January 2013. The REAA has further announced that the 2012 verifiable continuing education topic will be the Professional Conduct and Client Care Rules, with a focus on disclosure.
The REAA have engaged ETITO to develop learning objectives, common course curriculum and resources to support the consistent delivery of training by REAA-approved continuing education providers. It is for this reason that ETITO’s immediate priority is to work with REINZ, firms and training providers to deliver the industry with the resources it needs.
ETITO anticipates that the learning objectives and course curriculum will be available by 31 December 2011, with course materials being made available throughout January and February 2012. This timetable should see REAA-approved continuing education providers able to begin training early in the New Year.
REAA has called for applications from organisations interested in becoming approved providers. They are able to download the Call for Applications document at the Authority’s website www.reaa.govt.nz
Applications will be accepted until 9am, Monday 14 November 2011.
