What we do
ICT in Canterbury Growth Pilot
The ICT in Canterbury Growth Pilot Project is a collaboration between industry and tertiary education providers to ensure relevant, highly valued and industry- validated educational programmes for training providers to deliver.
Managed by ETITO, this $1.76 million project is a whole-of-industry, whole-of-region and pan-Tertiary Education Organisation initiative in the Canterbury Information and Communication Technology [ICT] sector that is working to align tertiary education provision with industry's skill requirements. ETITO is facilitating the collaboration between industry and tertiary education providers.
This collaboration is producing:
- An understanding of industry’s current and ongoing skill and talent requirements
- Education and training provision that is better aligned with industry’s skill and talent requirements, and is resulting in the development of new and reviewed educational programmes that better meet industry’s skill needs
- A whole-of-industry strategy for attracting people into educational programmes that lead them to careers in the industry.
This project is an example of ETITO's ability to:
- Provide industry leadership to identify current and future industry skill needs.
- Facilitate collaboration between industry and training providers.
- Build industry-based qualifications that deliver real value for companies in partnership with the training providers who will deliver them.
The progress and results of the project are posted at http://www.canterburyict.co.nz for the information of anyone working or interested in the ICT sector.
One outcome of the ICT in Canterbury Growth Pilot project is the development is a campaign promoting ICT as the smart future. To find out more about this visit www.thesmartfuture.co.nz
