How national qualifications training works

The training system

National qualifications for the electronic manufacturing industry have been designed in consultation with industry to ensure that training and assessment can take place in the workplace as individuals carry out their normal, everyday duties. No external training provision is required.

The employer determines the appropriate time frame and overall management of the training programme to suit the needs of production in their company. This commonly takes place over a 12 month period.

Many companies discover that their existing in-house training programmes cover the same content as national qualifications training. In these cases, employees simply need to be assessed as competent for their skills to be recognised and a national qualification awarded.

ETITO support

ETITO provides advice, information and a variety of tools to assist in the decision to choose and implement national qualifications training. This includes an introduction to national qualifications training, assessor training and materials, a candidate guide and national quality assurance mechanisms for assessment. We also have dedicated staff to advise on and support implementation of the national qualifications training and assessment programme.

To assist with workplace-based assessment, ETITO provides a range of assessment guides and tools and will provide subsidies to support the training of a member of your team as an assessor.

Once a Registered Training Workplace [RTW] contract is established between ETITO and an electronic manufacturing company, ETITO is able to provide a subsidy towards the costs of training and assessment.

Recognised by government and our industries as the national standards setting body, ETITO works with industry to subsidise industry engagement in national qualifications training.
