How national qualifications training works
National qualifications for ambulance officers are achieved through a mix of on and off-job training. On-job training takes place in the workplace as ambulance officers go about their normal, everyday duties, completing a logbook and written assignments as part of their assessment. Off-job training is gained through an external training provider, which in some cases may be the employing ambulance provider, by attending 'block courses'.
Depending on which ambulance provider you work for, there are different training options available.
