Explosive atmospheres unit standards

This section of the website provides resources for those electrotechnology professionals who are interested in ETITO's review of the Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas [EEHA] unit standards [now called Electrical Apparatus in Explosive Atmospheres].

Updated 26.01.2012

Note: Tracey Cooke has left ETITO.  For anything relating to Electrical Apparatus in Explosive Atmospheres, please contact Becky Corlett, Training Manager on or 09 583 1326.

Training Provision Developments

We've had discussions with several training providers here in New Zealand, and we're hoping they will agree to deliver a programme or programmes that lead to completion of the qualification.  We will release more informaiton when we have confirmation on this.

Australian Links

We've also had discussion with a couple of Registered Training Organisations [RTOs] in Australia, because they can provide training and assessment for organisations unable to get training provision here in New Zealand.  This will mean:

  • greater provision of training delivery and assessment for companies who currently have difficulty accessing training provision in New Zealand
  • greater flexibility of training provision for New Zealand based industry - i.e. able to deliver training and assessment onsite.

Also in line with these discussions, it's not without possibility that a trans-Tasman alliance could be established to ensure a network of provision.

Discussions are ongoing and updates will be posted here.

Timelines

Availability of RPL material is expected to be February 2012.

We anticipate the rest of the training provision being up and running in Quarter 1, 2012.

Assessors

We are in the process of identifying RPL Assessors and pinning down the requirements for workplace assessors.
