FAQs
What is a Registered Training Workplace [RTW]?
Companies become a Registered Training Workplace [RTW] by signing a RTW contract, which commits ETITO and the company to supporting national qualifications training in that workplace.
Why do I need to sign a Registered Training Workplace [RTW] Training Agreement?
The Training Agreement represents a commitment by the employer and employee to enter into a formal training programme comprising unit standards and qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework [NQF].
Once a Training Agreement is signed and registered with ETITO, ETITO can provide subsidies towards the cost of engagement in national qualifications training.
In 2011 there are changes to the information collected when employers sign new training agreements, to find our more about these requirements click here
How much does national training cost?
Companies are required to pay an annual registration fee per trainee payable directly to ETITO. The indirect costs of training and assessment provision depend on a security guard services company's current resources. However, ETITO provides subsidies towards the cost of engagement in industry training. For more information on our current fee and subsidy schedule, contact us.
How do I access ETITO's subsidies?
By becoming a Registered Training Workplace [RTW]. Subsidies towards the cost of engagement in industry training are paid to an RTW company as they progress through the training programme.
What is the difference between national qualifications and other qualifications?
National qualifications are designed by industry and ETITO, for industry. Each qualification is registered on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority's [NZQA] National Qualifications Framework [NQF] and is available to employers and trainees through ETITO.
How long does it take to get a national qualification?
This varies depending on the qualification and a company's objectives when implementing national qualifications training. ETITO field staff work with companies to plan appropriate time frames.
Are you a training provider?
ETITO is not a training provider; we are the recognised standards setting body for our industries. That means we develop and maintain competence [or unit] standards and national qualifications to meet the skills needs of our industries. Delivery of our national qualification programmes occurs in the workplace and / or via arrangements with independent providers, such as polytechnics and private training establishments.
Who maintains quality and consistency of qualifications?
ETITO maintains the quality and consistency of our qualifications and assessment, through a robust quality assurance system. This includes industry developed unit standards, a stringent accreditation process, strict workplace assessor registration criteria, assessment tools, and post-assessment moderation processes.
How do I know I'm being assessed fairly?
All assessors are moderated annually to ensure fair and consistent assessment decisions. If you feel you have been treated unfairly contact us for details on the appeal process.
Can I access my individual Record of Learning [ROL]?
You can access your ROL on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority [NZQA] website [www.nzqa.govt.nz] or you can contact ETITO and it will be sent out to you. It is also available on the 'E-Services' section of this website.
Our company already has internal training. Why do we need national qualification training?
National qualifications training complements and recognises existing training to a national standard level.
