Electrotechnology Mandatory Sector Review

This section is for people interested in ETITO's mandatory review of electrotechnology qualifications.  We will be updating regularly with news as the review gets underway.

Updated 19.10.2011

The first Electrotechnology sector review meeting was hosted by ETITO on 14-15 September 2011.  The 32 representatives attending the meeting came from various areas of the electrotechnology industry, ITPs (institutes of technology and polytechnics), private training establishments, ESITO, ETITO, NZQA, and EWRB.  Attendees were briefed on the aim of the sector review and the process involved.

Much of the discussion focused on the development of a skills matrix, and a design of clear educational pathways for the sector that will meet the training needs of the industry now and in the future.  Groups also started developing strategic purpose statements and graduate profiles for the new qualifications. Drafts of the qualifications pathways proposals have been circulated to the sector review group and wider consultation group for feedback.

ETITO would like to thank the sector review group for their enthusiastic participation and the knowledge and experience they bring to the process.

The next meeting of the electrotechnology sector review group will be held at Whitireia Polytechnic in Porirua on 27 October.
