Offender Management

Assessment

When a trainee feels that they are competent in the skills outlined in the unit standards, they can be assessed for competency and credits towards completion of a qualification can be awarded. Assessment involves the collection and recording of evidence that demonstrates an individual’s competence in each unit standard they are seeking credit for.

Managing the workplace training and assessment in this manner allows staff to effectively personalise their own training plan. Unit Managers and candidates can work together to identify an individual plan for all staff that will meet their developmental needs.

Recognition of Prior Learning [RPL]

ETITO is currently putting together a suite of tools to enable the National Certificate in Offender Management [Level 3] to be assessed through Recognition of Prior Learning [RPL]. This is a process used to recognise prior learning, knowledge, skills and experience and involves collecting a portfolio of evidence for assessment that covers the requirements of the unit standards that make up the qualifications.

RPL is also used for assessor training or those individuals looking to gain a national qualification outside of a Registered Training Workplace [RTW] Training Agreement.
